What to Expect When Getting a Hair Transplant

Hair transplant procedures have been around since the 1950's. Typically, the procedure is done right in the doctor's office. In most cases, the doctor will take a strip of hair from the back of the scalp and transplant it to an area that is thinning or contains no hair. Part of the scalp is removed with the opening sewn back up and covered with the leftover hair. The piece that has just been removed is separated into tiny hair particles.
